About us
It’s not the words “ A True New York Experience “ on the menu.
It’s not the pictures and New York memorabilia on the walls.
It’s not the New York atmosphere that hits you as you enter.
It’s not the 250 item menu like that of the best New York delis.
It’s not the transplanted New Yorkers who are always “there”.....
It’s actually all of these and more.
When Ed Brandt opened his restaurant in 2005, he brought to it his growing up in New York experiences and memories that he loves to share with his customers. Each day, you will see the big, curly haired guy, going from table to table, seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
Yeah, the bums left him and Brooklyn and went to "La La" land, but they will always be “dem Brooklyn bums”. Ed loves dem old bums.
And, if you want to talk about Broadway, Ed just looooves Broadway. Nathan’s Famous, Juniors, Lindy's, the Stage Deli, Second Avenue Deli, the Carnegie Deli or the old Madison Square Garden are just a few of the things that will get Ed started.
And, if you happen to mention Alan Freed and his doo wop rock ‘n roll shows, Ed will tell you about his collection of hundreds of those songs from the 50’s many of which you can hear in the restaurant every day.
Yes, a visit to Ed’s is a visit to New York when the memories were made and when there was a deli on every corner. Ed relives those memories by bringing Dallas the best New York deli. The bagels, the bread, the meat, the fish and the pickles are New York mainstays that he has brought in from the Big Apple.
“If you want a real New York deli and a real New York experience, corned beef from Chicago doesn’t hack it” says Ed. “My competition are those memories of what it was like in New York, and me and my great staff work every day trying to live up to those memories for our wonderful customers. And, I think we are doing a pretty good job of it.”
So, if you get that screaming urge for a real New York corned beef sandwich, or a giant bowl of matzo ball soup, or a slice of 7-layer cake that can feed four, see Ed.
You will love the place.
You will love the food.
You will love Ed.
And, you will become a regular, maybe even a Brooklyn Dodger fan.
See you at Ed’s!
